How to prepare for a reading

New to tarot? Here are some tips to get the most out of your reading.

Before
  • If possible, try to take some time to relax and get in touch with your inner self before you sit down to get a reading. A short meditation or even just sitting quietly and focusing on your breath should do the trick. Think about what you might like to ask.
  • If we're meeting virtually, do your best to find a calm location free of interruptions. You may want some privacy if you're seeking guidance on a delicate topic.
  • Don't stress if you can't think of the perfect question. Spirit will always convey whatever message you most need to hear. It's better not to force a question.

During
  • Be as clear as possible with what you want to know! I will help guide you on the best way to phrase your question if needed, but it's important that I understand what you're looking for so I can best interpret the cards' messages.
  • Taking notes or recording is fine, and even encouraged. Do what works best for you without taking yourself out of the moment. Sometimes readings have a lot of info, and it can be tricky to remember everything afterwards.
  • Be open to receiving whatever messages might come through. Spirit will always have your best interest at heart. Sometimes, a message may not click in the moment but will make a ton of sense later on.
  • Remember, readings can get emotional sometimes. It's totally okay to cry or ask to take a break if you need to. Anything you tell me during a reading stays between us.
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions if you need clarification on something. I'm happy to explain or pull a clarifying card if needed.

After
  • Allow yourself time afterwards to decompress and let the messages you received sink in. You can do so privately or make plans to talk about it with a friend.
  • Take any final notes you need to, and consider journaling to put your thoughts down on paper. Make note of any key insights you receive.
  • Depending on the reading, I may offer suggestions for what to do next. Still not sure? Reach out! I'd be happy to help you.

Disclaimers:
I am not a doctor or lawyer and therefore cannot offer readings about medical or legal topics. At the end of the day, tarot is for entertainment purposes only and is not a replacement for professional services like therapy or financial advice. The cards speak to where you currently are at the time of your reading; you have your own free will to follow my advice or not. Remember, tarot is not what you see in Hollywood!
